Amtrak Service to Rocky Mountain National Park

There is no direct Amtrak service to Rocky Mountain National Park (nor to Grand Lake or Estes Park).

If you’re considering taking Amtrak to Rocky Mountain National Park, the closest Amtrak station is in Granby, Colorado, which is about a 20-minute drive to the western entrance of the park.

There’s also an Amtrak station in Fraser, Colorado, which is about a 40-minute drive to the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and about a 5-minute drive to Winter Park Resort.

Although the Amtrak train passes through Winter Park Resort and the town of Winter Park, there isn’t actually a train station in Winter Park, Colorado. The Fraser train station, however, is often mistakenly referred to as the “Winter Park station.”

In Fraser, Colorado or Granby, Colorado, you can rent a car, van, or SUV, which will allow you to drive through Rocky Mountain National Park.

Please note: If you’d prefer to come into Rocky Mountain National Park from the eastern side (the Estes Park side), the closest Amtrak station is in downtown Denver, Colorado, which is approximately 65 miles from the eastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.
